Throughout 2009, I was recording my new songs and my 4-year-old daughter’s new songs on a minidisk 4-track in my apartment. We collected lots of tracks for a concept album constructed to sound like a crumby radio station playing fuzzy songs early in the morning. The resulting album, Club Awesome 99.7FM, is pretty fun mostly because of Eleanor’s completely improvised lyrics, many of them riffing off of lyrics in my songs. For Ribbons of Song fans, it’s a way to hear new songs in their infancy, before any band member touches them, and before I have figured out how to sing them on pitch or in rhythm!
We gave copies of the album to friends as a New Year’s Day present last year, but now we’re making it available to all via a free download at cllct.com.
